The Head of the #Donetsk
People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko congratulated the British.
“#Britain has done the same thing we had two years ago: we also had held the #referendum and had exited [Ukraine],” the DNA quotes him as saying. “Britain is lucky that nobody sends against them aircrafts [to bomb them], they are not named as separatists and so on, and I wish to congratulate the British with it.”
On May 11th, 2014, Donetsk and #Lugansk regions held referendums, showing the majority of voters support self-rule after the Maidan overthrow in Kiev, amid an intensified military operation by Kiev which resulted in deaths.

The DPR head Alexander Zakharchenko congratulated the residents of the United Kingdom on leaving the European Union.
“The UK has left the EU. In fact, it is a very big thing. They did what we had done two years ago. We, too, held a referendum, voted in it and left Ukraine. Fortunately for the UK, they are not attacked by military aircrafts, they are not called separatists, and so on. Therefore, I’d like to congratulate the people of the UK. I hope that Britain’s referendum will affect the attitude towards the People’s Republics in Europe,” – Alexander Zakharchenko said at the last meeting of the spring session of the DPR People’s Council.

Alexander Zakharchenko, the Head of the People's
Republic of Donetsk, congratulated residents of the United Kingdom on the exit
from the European Union.
‘Britain has withdrawn from the EU structure, in fact, it is a very big thing because Britain has done what we did two years ago, we also held a referendum, and voted, and withdrew (from Ukraine),’ said Zakharchenko.‘Fortunately for the British, they are not sent the aircraft, they are not called separatists and other names, so I want to congratulate the people of Britain,’ said the Head of the Republic.
Zakharchenko also expressed the hope that the
British referendum would affect the attitude to the People's Republics in
Europe.
Earlier, in the UK there was summed up the
referendum on the Kingdom's membership in the European Union. The majority of
residents, 52% or 17.41 million people, voted for the exit from the EU
versus 48% (16.14 million people) supporters of the further European
integration.
